There are very few Minecraft resource packs which do a good job of dealing with the plain old ugly look of the water in the game. Yes, it’s blue, and yes, it does flow along the path of least resistance just like water, but that doesn’t change the way it looks. Equanimity is a resource pack for Minecraft which does change the look of water, quite a lot, in fact, making the oceans of the world look like real, live oceans, with waves and trickling instead of the same flat, cubic kind of look. Those players who love sailing and fishing in the game will find a lot to enjoy in Equanimity. While Equanimity could have the best looking water for any Minecraft resource pack, it seems like a lot of the power in the pack has gone toward that particular facet. Other blocks look just like they do in the standard Minecraft set, like stone bricks, clay bricks, glass panes and many other construction blocks. Trees also look startlingly similar to the normal Minecraft sprite, with no noticeable change to the textures for the wood or the leaves. Many interactive items like doors and levers all look the same too. What does all that mean for Equanimity resource pack?
It means Equanimity resource pack is great for players who already like the way their Minecraft game looks, but just wish the water wasn’t so ugly. Many people have complained about how boring the water is, how difficult it is to see when fish are biting a hook, and how sailing produces no waves, wake or other change on the environment. Equanimity does much to fix many of the problems with Minecraft’s standard water, without fixing the things that didn’t need to be fixed. It’s a minimalist resource pack with a very specific purpose which also happens to do a very good job.
